I’m delighted to announce that following the consultation, I’m giving the green light to make Oxford Street traffic-free.

When we pedestrianised the street for a day in October, footfall went up nearly 50% and passenger numbers at nearby Tube stations jumped by 25%. It shows the appetite for a traffic-free Oxford Street where businesses and Londoners can thrive.

In the coming years, I can’t wait to see Oxford Street’s full potential unleashed, creating a world-class, accessible street for everyone.
